Man Found Dead in Fairbanks

A man has been found dead in a tent in Fairbanks.

Police say the man has been identified but his name has not been released pending notification of family.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says man's body was found Wednesday in a wooded area off Peger Road.

Sgt. Kurt Lockwood says it appears the man died from exposure, based on an initial review of the scene.

There was no sign of foul play. The man's body is being sent to the state medical examiner for autopsy.

Lockwood says police presume the man was somewhat new to the area. Police did not recognize him from their periodic contacts with the city's homeless population.
